What have you tried so far besides the new key? Checking the battery, connections and post corrosion is an easy check and cheap repair. It could be a faulty alternator if your battery is good and can hold a charge but is drained after a short time while connected. It could also be a bad ignition switch or starter motor. Very difficult to pinpoint with the information given. What led you to getting a new key made?

SOURCE: have to turn key several times before car starts

Check oil pressure regulator, the likelihood is oil pressure, pressure relief, need multiple times ignition, re-established oil pressure.

Would start with checking Battery, and the connections to the battery. Quick solve if you can get it to professionals, they can check condition of battery, whether charging system works. If you can do a bit of diy, check voltage directly on battery, should be around 13 v. sometimes there can be a bit of build up on the - pole of battery, boil some water with baking soda, and pour over corroded (white build up on negative pole), that should better connection and perhaps solve the immediate hassle . But that should also indicate that connection needs to be cleaned properly, otherwise same will happen again

Will not start ... for a month or better it started having trouble starting would click once when you truned the key and you would have to turn the key several time (some times more than others) and it...

It sounds like you need a new starter. Your armature has few dead spots on it and every time you turn the key it moves just a little until you hit a good spot and then it spins and the car starts

Wouldn't start. Turned ignition switch. Nothing happened. Interior lights & headlights worked.tried 2 hours later & car started.

Does your security light flash if you turn your key to the 'on' position? If so, this is a Passlock problem. It should restart after 10 minutes. Here`s a possible solution that has worked for me. Have a new key cut from origional key or best condition key you have. Buy some Electronic cleaner and spray lots into the lock cylinder. Then, put your key in the ignition and turn from off to on position several times (5 to 10 times quickly). Then remove your key and spray again and repeat key turning. Do this several times. I don`t recomend any spray that is oil based. I no longer have issues with my Passlock system and I have almost 500 000Kms on my Impala.

After turning the key several times the starter will engage

hi, If when you turn the key the engine dont turn over untill after a few tries usually it works sometimes then other times it takes several tries to get the engine to turn over.
This is a common problem and easily solved you need to get the starter motor replaced this isnt expensive to do and will only take couple of hours.
If you have never done one before then leave it to the experts ok.
Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Ignition switch

is the vehicle out of gear and in the park position? if so try and turn the steering wheel left and right at the same time turn the key back and forth slowly. repeat this proccess several times. also move your shifter back and forth several times slowly. if this doesn't solve the problem, there is a pin inside the steer wheel coloumn that is the problem. you will have to remove the steering wheel column covers to solve this. good luck ....please rate this.......thanks

Ignition won't turn to start the car

the lock cylinder may have to be replaced, have you tried moving the steering from side to side while trying to turn the key, if you do need to get a new ignition lock cylinder have a lock smith key it to fit your old keys
