What's the labor charge to replace fuel pump 1996

Call a shop they charge by wrench hour but I would think no more than an hour. So they charge $65 hour and the job calls for wrench hours of 1.5 hours you would pay $97.50. Wrench hours are figure by 100 mechanics doing the exact same job then averaging there completion time. This is protect you from paying that 1 guy that took 3 hours on that job and you paying too much.

Your asking for a info that shops pay for by subcription or
we pay hundreds for the factory manuals to work on our
vehicles

Also only the proper testing will uncover a vehicle fault

There is no guessing or someone had the same problem
Every job is a fresh start regardless

Again the shops people go to should have the material to
become familiar with the vehicle before any work or testing
starts,no one knows it all

As a customer you do not need to help them or give them
any materials,parts numbers etc, that is their job & why your
paying them

please open your car front cover and try to find out fuse box there and open it and use a tester and its need to turn on continuity test mode for know which one fuse is broken when you could find out any broken fuse please remove it carefully and try to replace it by new one.

We come when we want and we leave when we want and we respond to the questions we want. You are a good mechanic, which I read as you are also good at the research on mechanical repairs.

You are asking for a lot of work for a volunteer question catcher (me). You probably have access to a library. May I kindly suggest you can do this research yourself?

Alternatively, there is the chance that there is a Mercedes mechanic now logged onto the site who may see your question and have the reference readily at hand.

There are more than 3000, 'expert' volunteers and way more question catchers why have not yet reached the level of being 'rated'.

Problems with power recovery Exhaust smells

It sounds like you have mechanical problems with your engine instead of a "bad" sensor. You can pay for a scanner to be put on your vehicle, but the scanner takes into account, that the rings and valves, as well as the compression is all fine. The smell of sulfur you smell is oil going through your catalytic converter. A repair shop will first charge you for them to place a scanner on your vehicle yet that will not give them the answers they need so expect to pay for a compression test...both "dry" and "wet" (20 cc's of oil in each cylinder), to establish the condition of the rings and valves as well as an additional charge for a Cylinder Leakage Test. This is all done BEFORE they can tell you what's wrong. Possible engine replacement from what you describe here, yet get yourself a Haynes Manual, number # 50025, which is for your Jeep as well as a compression tester and vacuum gauge and you can diagnose most of the problem yourself.

The cheapest and quickest way to check the mechanical part of the engine is: while it's running, place a dollar bill under and against the tail-pipe. If the dollar bill flaps into the tailpipe at any time, then you've got Engine Mechanical Problems for this "test" shows that a valve or valves are either burnt, sticking or carboned up. Before doing anything involving test equipment, just take a paper bill and see if the bill goes up towards or inside of the exhaust pipe.
