If it won't read any disc you put in, consider getting a new DVD player, the eye is most likely gone bad. If it is only one disc that you can't read i would suggest a Scotch DVD Cleaner kit. Cleans and Repairs discs, helps prevent skipping and mistracking, and repairs minor surface scratches improving disc audio and image quality.

your set needs a tech take it to be repair you cannot do it yourself if you do not have a knowledge of electronics repair.good luck

First you need to try other disc on it to confirm if it is not the disc you were trying to play, if it does the same, then the lens of the player is faulty.

Therefore the reason your portable dvd player keeps reading disc without playing it is either because the lens of the player is weak or dirty.

Try to clean it with a dvd lens cleaner and test it with a disc after cleaning it. if it does the same, then the problem is that the lens is weak and needs replacement.

To replace the lens, get the appropriate screwdriver, unscrew the player from the bottom, you will see the battery and panel of the player, carefully unscrew it and remove the panel, you will see the compartment where the lens of the player is seated, carefully detach it from the player and replace it with a new one. Then you reverse the process to reassemble the player back together.

lens is dirty ........clean the lens using the lens disk cleaner...........still problem continues the laser head is not picking up the disc...........need to replace laser assembly.......

Sorry nto tell ya that something must have happened to the lcd screen or display. Has it been dropped ?? If you hold it up to a light do you see an image but no brightness as could also be a backlight problem . My advice would be to see if theres any type of warrantee on the unit cause from experience this repair PROBably is'ent gonna be cheap and I say this cause most repair centers wont even look at something like this for under 30 to 50 bucks. Romy... there are "membrane switches" located behind the front panel. Sometimes they go bad or get dirty and won't work. MOST times these are a SINGLE panel with many switches. Often they are a pain to GET and install... Only the right one will work! Anthony
