Sony TA9000es with bad R124. What type and spec should be the Cap across R153 ? And Q108-110 should be replaced even if good ?

Are these parts unique or are they connected with one channel? If they are connected to one channel, look at one of the other channels for the same types.

Power on but no led display

"Power board:
The power supply is the main culprit for most of the TA-E9000ES failures. Symptoms of this are no sound and a very dim or no display. Apparently the power board has several weaknesses which have caused Sony to supply a modified version in later production units. The circuit around transistors Q108 and Q109 are prone to oscillation, which will cause one or both transistors to break down, as well as resistor R124. This resistor is originally a surface mounted device capable of 1/10 watts of heat dissipation. The modification suggested by Sony is to replace this 4.7 k ohm resistor with a 1 watt rated version. Also, to prevent further oscillations a 100 pF capacitor is added in parallell with R153. (Some suggests that also transistor Q110 is a candidate for replacement.) The US issued service bulletin from Sony suggest that this fault may occur with units having a serial number in the range 800001 - 802746.
Serial numbers 80#### are for the US/Canadian version.
Serial numbers 50#### are for the european version."

Please advise if I can fix myself ? or do I need to take some where and if yes where and who can I trust

Can you please tell me exactly how you have the receiver wired. What I need is, for example, the left front speaker is wired to what? Do you have more than one speaker wired to to the same speaker terminal? For more information, or if you would like to inquire about having your Sony repaired, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. By the way, I was a Sony Factory Authorized Service Center for over 30 years. Thank you.

Hi guys. Having a problem with my NAD T163 Surround Sound Decoder. Popping in front left and right speakers when changing audio selection. Works well other than that. Please give me some suggestions w

Could be DC voltage on the speaker output line, but this will generally keep your receiver audio output turned off completely. Could be a bad muting transistor or microprocessor IC(computer within your NAD). If you are interested in having your NAD repaired, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com.You may contact me there. Thank you..

No display

I doubt that a reset will aid you at all. If you'd like to try it, the procedure is in you owner's manual. I would need to know more to give you an accurate diagnosis. I would need to know if you hear one or two clicks from inside the receiver when you push the power button. If you need further assistance, or would like to inquire about a repair, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. Thank you.

Hi

First of all please check that all the cables firmly connected to/from the unit. If every thing is fine then you can upgrade the firmware by following step by step instructions on the link. You can also download the service manual for TA-E9000ES from this link. However all the components of this unit are under 5 year's warranty. If this period has already been elapsed then you can also buy the replacement part 71V124SA from this link. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Sony e9000es preamp. no LCD light

Hi John. It can be fixed, and most probably relates to the power supply. There is a Sony repair doc that lists low or no display, but also associated with no audio.
Here is the information regarding the problem.
(Some suggests that also transistor Q110 is a candidate for replacement.)
The US issued service bulletin from Sony suggest that this fault may occur with units having a serial number in the range 800001 - 802746.

If you still have sound, then there may well be a problem elsewhere. It is a great Preamp, and I recommend you get it fixed. A Sony Authorised service center would be the best place to take it. They supply good inside information about this most problems that occur on their gear. There is good info on your preamp controller here

Hi, I have a Sony

Hi,

It could be a problem with the power board. There could be few reasons for the same. It could be a problem with the fuses on the board. I am sure you would have checked the power switch. Sometimes it is cost effective to replace the plate amplifier than to repair.

It would be really tough to provide you with an idea as i cannot diagnose the same. If you have experience in repairing electronics, could read schematics and would be able to keep precautions, i would be more than happy to provide you with a link for service manual and would tell you few pointers. But, on an average if it would be fuse the cost would be $100 - $150 depending upon the location of the shop.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

TA-N9000ES Amp - Standby light constantly blinks - no sound

The flashing light is indicating that a fault has been detected, and it is staying in "protect mode". First disconnect all cables from the processor (except the power cord) and then power up the processor. This will eliminate the possibility of a shorted cable or a problem with any connected components. f the light still flashes, there is an internal problem and the processor will require profesional service.
