Is the philips dvd player
DVD players cannot play Blu-Ray discs. Most Blu-Ray players have DVD support, which means they can play DVDs as well as Blu-Ray. Unfortunately, the DVP3982 is not a DVD player, not a Blu-ray player, therefore it cannot support this format.
Displays no disc
I had the exact same problem. When I finally opened the top there was another disk already in there. I guess if the unit shuts off and you leave aa disk in it will stay in the player even though when you open the door to place another disk in the tray will be empty. All you have to do is unscrew the cover aand then you will see a crossbar held in with two screws where the disks are. unscrew them and take out the two disks thay are stuck togeather. Replace eveything and rescrew and enjoy the movie!! Hope this helps!
How to repair no power
1) test power cord for defective or short or open replace or repair2) switch defective, clean or replace 3) see the blown fuse or c.breaker tripped , reset.try again. if the problem persist, the power supply had been missing.If you have the skill, do it but you need special tools, or go to the repair shop TV for fix i.God bless you
The disc is stuck up
Remove DVD player from the mains. Look for the slotted opening covered with plastic cover at the bottom front, which can be opened easily by hand without much force. After opening it put a small flat screwdriver (locate the stud inside) & move it so that the tray will just open. Then pull the tray & remove your CD.

You may want to load the update to a CD and try it. The web site should have good instruction on either load device. I had to go to my System Setup on the TV screen to make it work.

You can ofter setup HDMI on your devices in different modes, for example my old tv had options that i could change RGB and other settings for hdmi. try looking in the settings of the DVD-player and see if you have hdmi options
How to change password
The default password is 136900.
The user manual (page 44) briefly details the general setup preferences, including;
To change the password:
1) Press OK to access the change password menu.
2) Use the numeric keypad 0-9 on the remote control to enter your existing six-digit password at { Old Password }.
Note: When doing this for the first time or if you forget your existing password, enter '136900'.
3) Enter the new six-digit password at { New Password }.
4) Enter the new six-digit password again at { Confirm PWD }.
5) Press OK to confirm and exit.
It shouldn't matter what your old password was, if you forget it, try the default, then confirm and exit.
It is locked and we
Do you mean it is disc locked or tray locked? If it is tray locked, it may require workshop attention, which could be expensive (depending on the nature of the problem). If it is DISC LOCK, try this:
Up to 20 discs can be
locked.
[ Lock ] - To block the playback of the current disc. Subsequent access to a locked disc requires a six-digit password.
The default password is 136900.
[ Unlock ] - All discs can be played.

A div-x dvd will play about 15 minutes and then
