Does laminate worktop stain?

It is very resistant to scratches, is heat resistant up to 180°C and does not stain easily. ... However, unlike wood which can be oiled to remove stains or glass which can polish out scratches, your laminate worktop will need to be replaced if you do manage to damage it.

I took off all of my old hardware on my kitchen cabinets. I cleaned them really well and want to put the new handles on. The old handles were bigger and now you can see where the old handles were.

You don't mention what you are applying the stain to. did you fill it with something? for a wood species, it is best to make sawdust by sanding the same type of wood as the cabinet. mixed with a bit of glue it creates a custom wood filler close to the color of the wood. try staining with a cotton swab, over and over till it blends. Now if you don't have the same color stain that will oblige you to make a custom stain by mixing more red or yellowish stains. the is another way, if you can find a wax filler stick the same color as the cabinet, though using the crayon is not a fix, melting the wax into the hole might do the job, remove extra with a blade without scratching surface around. good luck

Which one has more heat resistant: Granite or Silestone? Explain?

Both will be heat resistant, however you should never put a hot pot on Quartz since the resins (the manmade binders, glue) will likely discolor or even burn. Granite is much less likely to be damaged by hot pots or pans directly from the oven. There is a very unlikely chance that granite could crack from an instant change in temperature. Either way, always use a trivet, although, I always put hot pots and pans directly on my granite with no problems. Most granites are very stain resistant as well, so ask your fabricator which are more dense if this is a concern of yours.

How do I remove black water stains from normally oiled teak wood?

well 1st you need to determine what stains are made from ? if there a food stain then there most likely made from a grease of some sort , if this is so then denatured alcohol will take them off (with a bit of rubbing ) if there a rust or mildew stain then you'll have to use something stronger like muriatic acid (diluted w water 50/50) also note never add water to acid but instead add acid to water (yes it makes a huge difference) , this is dangerous stuff and all safe precautions need to be taken with it , this will also require all the teak oil finish to be reapplied after acid is neutralized with say baking soda and water (paste) and dried in air as this rough chemical will remove all the woods natural oils

while teak is a nice wood to have (beautiful looking) when something like this happens to it , it sure is a expensive wood to maintain

Which is the best material for a mortar and pestle?

Mortar and pestle must be made of a hard enough material so that seeds and plants can be crushed without wearing away the tool, and so that the pounding and grinding won't break it.
The material should also be smooth and non-porous so that it won't absorb or trap the substances that are being ground.
There are a few materials that all more or less fit these requirements: ceramic, porcelain, glass, marble, stone, wood, bamboo, iron, steel, brass and basalt.
The choice among these is based on what use you need the mortar and pestle for.
For example rough ceramic is more fragile than stone but makes a finer powder. While glass, also fragile, is stain-resistant. Wood absorbs more easily but is very good for the grinding of salt and pepper at the dinner table. While metal mortars need to be kept lightly oiled.
I personally would suggest a heavy, thick, smooth marble mortar and pestle, as it is both very resistant to pounding, and grinds pretty finely. Marble is good with both liquids and dry seeds and plants, and it doesn't absorb odors and tastes as much as other materials, even tho it does get a bit stained and sometimes previous substances can still be smelled on it for a while.
