2 Make sure the disc isn't scratched or dirty. Use a soft rag to clean the disc if you see any smudges. Insert the CD into the DVD player's disc drive and close it.

1. Turn on the player (without a disc inserted)
2. Press PLAY
3. Press 159 023 793 90
4. Press PLAY
5. Confirmation should be displayed
6. Turn the player off

You need to unlock the player before it will play discs from other regions. UK has region 2 discs while the US has region 1.

Search on Google for your DVD model and unlock code.
Dial in the code using your remote and you should then be able to play any region discs from around the world.

To change the region on the Philips dcp750
1. Press the Open button on your remote control to open the drive tray
2. Press the Setup button on your remote control
3. Press the Right button on your remote control
4. Press the Right button on your remote control
5. Press the Right button on your remote control
6. Press the 9 button on your remote control
7. Press the 6 button on your remote control
8. Press the 5 button on your remote control
9. Press the 3 button on your remote control
10. Using the Up and Down buttons on your remote control, change the region to 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on, or 0 for multi-region playback
11. Press the Setup button on your remote control

the laser lens on the optical pickup is dirty or scratched. to clean: buy a disk cleaner and use it per instructions. if it doesn't help, you can do it manually. remove the top, remove the top off of the disk assembly (you may have to remove the whole assembly first) until you see the lens. be careful with the cables and wires. use a lint-free swab (not a q-tip and not your finger), gently wipe off the lens. replace the covers and test. if it still doesn't work, it may be scratched or damaged. in which case, it needs to be replaced.

Sorry, no suggestion other than don't buy Samsung. That's my conclusion after owning the same model. It worked fine for a while, but now won't load any DVD... usually. Sometimes it will play one, but more often it won't. Mine tries to load ("Loading") for a long time, I hear the DVD spinning, then ultimately the screen displays "This disc cannot be played" or something to that effect.

I had the same problem, don't try to hard it won't solve the problem. Just buy a new cheap one and it even will read more formats.
