It will load and say sony home entertainment then the screen goes gray
You can try some Blu-ray player programs so that you could play Blu-ray discs on your laptop after installing a Blu-ray drive. You could try Leawo Blu-ray Player which is a free program.
This is a common problem in blu ray discs, the reason why it won't play is because they play at a faster speed and demand a higher precision to produce the high definition signal required to play the program. The only way to fix this is to replace the whole laser pickup assembly which would not be cost effective.
SOURCE: I need the dvd region code for the Vizio VBR120
Hugo, there is no region code change available for this units version of firmware.

I have the same problem. While I don't have the permanent solution, I can tell you a few things. 1) You don't need to unplug, simply hold the power button down on the unit until it does a full reset (it normally just goes into standby mode when you tap the power off button). 2) I've noticed the locking only happens if I try to watch a netflix after I've used an optical disc between resets. IMO, I believe it's a problem with the system memory not updating and won't be solved unless they put out a specific firmware upgrade for it (unlikely on such a cheap player).

Please inspect the HDMI connector on the back of the Blu-Ray player to make sure none of the pins (top and bottom) are not push back inside the connector. If there are return the unit for a another unit.

your network settings after you connect your Ethernet cable, but you can manually change these
settings if you are an advanced user and are comfortable with networks.

3. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to your home network (usually your router
home network must have broadband Internet access such as cable or DSL.
4. Press to select Settings, and then press SELECT.
5. Press to select Network, and then press SELECT.
6. Press ^ or down to select Wired and then press SELECT.

Note: If you need additional help setting up your network, please refer to the user manual for your
router or contact the manufacturer of either your router or your Internet service provider if they
provided the router for you.
Your ip settings will look something like this 192.168.2.1
You might be able to find you setting by going to Network Connections -> 2x click on Local Area Connection -> then click on the support tab.
SOURCE: A new "Tangled" movie disc not play in Blu-Ray
As newer bluray movies come out they are constantly tweeking the format. More then likely you need to update your bluray players firmware or software. There should be an option under the menu for the bluray player to update the unit of course this will require that you have it hooked into the internet via ethernet cable or wifi network.
