My Samsung Notebook 700Z screen goes to sleep after 1 Min. I have checked and re-checked my settings, and it is set right. Any suggestions?

When I stop using the computer for 1 minute or more, it goes to the sign in screen. I have gone in to settings and changed the settings to 30 Min. but still not working?

Disable the hibernate mode and standby, uncheck hibernate on left, then sellect never on all three in power settings.

  • Anonymous Sep 27, 2012

I have "never" checked on all three modes, and it still goes to the blue sign in screen after exactly one minute. Very frustrating.

The only other solution is to reload your operational system from scratch.

SOURCE: Laptop apprears to go into sleep mode while I'm using it

To my knowledge it could be hibernate mode for laptops to save battery life when not plugged into the wall, try pressing the power button, my Compaq did that too. Also don't hold down the power button as after 5 seconds it just shuts off the laptop, unless you wanna do that.

SOURCE: Screen goes black on my hp pavilion dv4000 notebook

Try connecting an external monitor to the laptop, power up the monitor first then boot up the laptop. The video data will switch to the monitor automatically, check if the monitor dislays a normal image and see if the image stays on the monitor.
Also press and hold the Fn key and press the F4 key, these keys toggle the video output between the LCD screen and the video port.
Test to see if this functions correctly.
Get back to me with the results of the tests.

SOURCE: screen goes black when plugged in

The high pitch sound is most likely a faulty inverter. Most defective screen are caused by a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp or simply the video cable needs reseating. After reseating the video cable and the problem is still there then :- To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions. Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case. The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills. Check out www.lcdparts.net for parts, repair service and DIY info.

When the charger cord is plugged in the display goes off

Here are two solution you can Try and I hope At-least one should work for you.

Solution 1)It sounds like your laptop may be going into Hibernate or Sleep mode as part of its Power Management scheme.

You can change the Hibernate and Sleep Settings in the Power Options: To do this: Place your mouse over the battery icon on the taskbar and right-click.
Choose "Power Options".
(You can also access the power options through the control panel: Start>Control Panel>System and Maintenance>Power Options.)

3398089822_639f520634_o.png
Under the plan being used on your computer, click on "Change Plan Settings".

3397279781_d6fb0483c3_m.jpg Change the presented Settings as desired. If the settings you wish to change are not shown on this screen, proceed to the next step.
Click on the "Change Advanced Power Settings" link (near the bottom of the Window).
3398089998_7422f3dcc2.jpg

Scroll down the list to the "Sleep" entry and Expand it. Expand the sub-entries and change the settings as desired. Look at the rest of the settings on the list as make changes as desired. Click "Ok".
3452143920_64f89b486c.jpg
Click "Save".
SOLUTION 2) In the power setting there is a screen brightness bar. When on power set it all the way to the right on AC power and set it to the middle for battery power.

IF both the above will not work then I'll Suggest you to show your laptop to some local repairing center.

After about 10 min. screen goes blank like power goes out on LCD tv. What causes this to happen?

You might want to check the sleep timer, it may be ON and set for 10 min. Go to the OnScreen Menu to get to this setting. Also, you could be nearing the end of your "relationship". There may be an internal board problem that may mean a trip to the TV doctor.

It sounds like your computer is set to go to sleep or hibernate when it reaches 25%.

You can check in your power options (Start ->Control Panel -> Power Options on windows XP)

Computer monitor screen goes black after 10 - 15

This could be due to the power management settings in your notebook. I suspect that the notebook is entering either in to sleep or the screen saver is set. Check if the issue persists, if these are disabled.....

Black screen

If the screen is breaking up into multiple screens, the video resolution isn't set correctly. Change the video properties back to the native resolution.

Right-click on an empty area of your desktop screen. Click on Properties at the bottom. Now click on the Settings tab.
The Screen Resolution slider should be all the way to the right, close to -> More.
The Colors should be set to the highest setting.

When you close the lid, you may have your laptop set to Sleep Mode, check that. You may also have your screen saver set to Blank, and no screen saver has been chosen.

(1.Screen Saver: Right-click on empty area of desktop>Properties>Screen Saver.

2.Sleep Mode: Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance>Power Options>Power Buttons>When I press the sleep button on my computer>Then choose what you want it to do)

If none of this helps, I suggest you have a problem that HP needs to repair. Since you bought this dv9700t last July, would I be correct in assuming it's still under warranty?

My hp goes to sleep alot???

CHECK YOUR POWER SETTINGS
1. Right Click your desktop and click properties
2. On properties window click the screen saver tab. Beneath it, click the power button.
3. On the Power Schemes, you can either select the Home/Office Desk or Always On option
4. For the other options below, select NEVER for all of them and click apply.

5. go to the Hibernate Tab and take off hibernate and also click the apply button

Restart your PC and watch out if the problem still persists.

if it dos then you need to download a new Power Management driver or ACPI from HP's website.
