Television has power since the yellow light indicates power. However, the television will not "turn on".
My 47" Vizio wouldnt turn on this morning.....had a similair problem 3 yrs ago.....this is what i did and fixed the problem myself.....apparently you have to reset TV. Here is what has worked for me. So unplug tv power cord from the tv. Hold the power button and imput button together ( located on side panel ) for approx 45 sec......plug cord back into tv. Press power button on tv and voila !!!!! Tv came back on!!! I have had my Vizio almost 5 yrs. But have to call the unhelpful customer service atleast once a year.... I hope this works for you :)
Hello,
I have a Vizio 47 inch LCD TV and I bought it about 17 mths ago. Has been a great TV. Last night the TV made a loud pop like something blew up. Like a bulb. Now I have nothing on the screen no sound, but the Vizio light is on illuminated in white and the buttons are lite up orange, but won't work. Can you help. I think it maybe a backlight that went out. How do I get to that and replace it without paying $1000's. Thank you for any help you can give.
If you have a Vizio L32 and it will not turn on and only has a yellow light:
add a 10k resistor (cost 20 cents) Solder the legs between 2 and 3 of where it says U26
It really works,
Chad from Austin, TX
I learned it from some guy in this post:

My POS Vizio 42 also died today, won't power on, the dolts at Vizio wanted me to plug into another outlet on the other side of the room, this must be one of their call center jokes, anyway, still nothing and no clue as to what to do, they gave me a phone number of a thrid party in Utah that they use to repair their garbage, I'm in Florida. Does anyone know what boards to order from where for the L42 LCDHDTV? And the cost perhaps, I'm handy enough around electronics and can replace the boards, would be awkward to bring it work and one my techs fix the power board, if that is what's wrong, spending $1600 for a TV not two years old I expect more from the manufacturer - this is my last Vizio and I hope as all the others fail that Vizio will go belly up.
I to have a piece of **** L42HDTV10a Vizio and was working fine for part time about a year and a half, today I looked up with sound and no picture, since these things don't have tubes what do you replace to make picture come back HELP!!!

Hope this helps
I have a 47in Vizio, had the same loud popping noise. TV went out but could not power down, had the orange glowing logo lighting up but had to pull plug from wall to power down. Called Sears, whose customer service and tech and much better than ITI (who called back 3 days later). $243.00 to repair a popped fuse on the mother board ($3) part. Hi Def TVs have much more technology in them so things are going to happen from time to time. It's like owning a computer. Love my Vizio and for the money you can't beat them. The components on the inside are mostly made by LG.
I just bought a viso 47 inch on sept 10th 2008 and on sept 12th 2008 the tv stopped working. The yellow vizio light is on but none of the buttons on the side will do anything or buttons with the remote. 2 days this wonderful tv worked. Vizio is garbage. Taking it back to costco tonight. On a side note i bought this tv to replace a toshiba 42" that died after 20 months. But the 18 year old 20 inch mitsubishi my wife has had since high school is still going strong and the 18 inch zenith I have had since high school which i just gave away is still going strong and the 55" mitsubishi projection that i have had for 6 years is going strong. What is wrong with current day plasma and LCD manufacturers.
I would like to know how "Guest" does with his repair and how difficult of a repair it is. I just got a quote for almost $500 to replace the main board.
This could be your main board or panel is bad. If there is LED stand by light then there is power in the tv. Have a tech come out or call the company
Normally the problem will be the power supply, but if you unplug the TV for a few minutes and then turn on then the TV may work (I had the same problem with my Sharp), anyway Vizio TV's are made by different manufacturers, like Samsung and Sony (plasmas), LG and Phillips (LCD's).
I have a GV42L Vizio and it too does not turn on anymore, no glowing VIZIO logo or anything. Less than 2 years old, I got from Costco so they offer the extended 1 year when buying from them. A ITI tech (Vizio's contracted repair people) is supposed to arrive in a couple days. And yeah, so Vizio really is ****. I had such high hopes for them too.

I bought a vizio L32 about 2 years ago and now when I turn it on, the picture will come on for about 30 seconds or so and the screen will just go black. The audio/sound is still but no picture. I called ITI and they quoted me $295.00 to repair it. DO NOT EVER BUY VIZIO, THEIR PRODUCT/TV SUCKS!
My problem my 37in vizio wouldnt power on at almost 2 years old.costco had a two year warrenty and sent a repair guy.he changed the circuitboard,tv powered up but the picture was fuzzy and glarey.i explained the problem, cosco issued me a full refund.i was very happy about that, then i bouught a sharp.

tv will not turn on, yellow power button is on but no power to tv
My 32" Vizio would go off for a few seconds then come back on. Now it is off and will not turn back on using either the remote or the power button on the set itself. Grrrrr... Strangely enough ( and tru to form) today is the two year anniversary of the purchase!
I have had the same problem with two of these l32's now. After about six months . The tv works fine, I shut it off, and the next day turn it on, and get nothing.
To whom is may concern,
I am very dissatisfied with your product. I have a 42" LCD: VU42L FHDTV10A serial# LSPAPAH2225665, it was manufactured in May 2007, I purchased it May 30, 2007 from the Costco in Eureka, California. MY CUSTOMER ID#262043. My ITI# 007692. I purchased this flat screen because of the coupon in the Costco "junk mail"-- $400 dollars off (the original price was $1,199.) This particular vizio stopped working Wednesday, January 16, 2008. Just barley 6 months after i purchased the unit, with less than daily use, "My Vizio" will not turn on. The unit is getting power, because the "Vizio" logo lights up orange. The LCD was properly plugged into a Monstercable surge protector as is every other "high dollar" electronic unit in my house including 4 large 10,000 rpm hard drives with nearly 2 TB of important information. Theses hard-drives have had no problems in their 3 years of constant operation.
I have 3 main concerns. One, why does my nearly $1000 dollar tv not work after less than one year of non-constant operation?
Two, though your telephone tech support staff confronted me with the statement, "We take our televisions very seriously, sir", my comfort was suddenly diminished by the fact that i had to watch my San Diego Chargers loose to the New England Patroits on a Zenith 20" tube set purchased also at Costco (the Price Club), in 1986. The telephone tech support person informed me that my television would be fixed in a timely manor. I reported my problem on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, though i have not heard from anyone from either Vizio or ITI. I'm not sure what ITI is an acronym for, but they are apparent contractor hired to fix broken Vizio's... Vizio does not service their own products. I then thought i would call Vizio again this Monday, January 21, 2008. After contacting Vizio i was given ITI's phone number (408.321.2886). ITI informed me that no one has contacted me because they wait to receive the part before scheduling a technician for a house call. I also was informed that ITI had a FEDEX tracking number on the part i needed. The part has not even been shipped yet. The television not turning on must be a common problem in Vizio's LCD's because they know that part I need even though my TV has not been inspected.
Three, Vizio informed me that they would fix my television, for that i am thankful. But how long am a going to have ti wait. That is the reason i called Vizio and ITI this morning, and why I am currently writing this letter, to vizio, the Better Business Bureau, and who ever will listen. Assuming Vizio sent ITI the part i need to for my TV to work ITI would be able to atleast have a rough calculation on what day my LCD could be serviced. However we are at a standstill, ITI has know idea what their going to get the part. And Vizio has know idea when ITI is going to get the part. And when i asked can candidly, "Can you give me a rough estimation of when my LCD will be serviced, like a couple days, weeks, months, neither of the ladies from ITI would even peg the servive date to days, weeks or months.
Can some one just let me know how long i am going to have this 1000 dollar POS? And after it is fixed, will anyone out there buy it off of me? I'll give you a good deal... I don't blame you.
If i could get my money back, I WOULD. Here is a couple of the almost endless sob stories relating to Vizios. This person is pissed because his TV stopped working in two years (he's lucky)http://tech.yahoo.com/us/1994432116?revi... . Here are some others,http://www.fixya.com/support/t146117-tel... . And some more people with the same problemhttp://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/11/20... . I could come up with more, but anyone can google this problem and read for hours.

I have a Vizio 37 HDTV LCD and have had the same problem. The TV is going on 2 years this April, yello light flashing, will power on for 15 minutes then shut down, turn it back on, sometimes will stay on for a while and sometimes shuts down right away, had it working for two weeks then shut downs continue. Vizio wanted my receipt, you know the one from Costco's with the disappearing ink. After reading the posts here, first thing I did was buy a new Samsung 32 with an extended warrantee for my computer, then took the Vizio apart and wrote down all the board numbers, ordered the main board and power supply for now. It seems from what I am reading the main board is the problem however I will repost tonight after my parts arrive UPS. Anyone else wanting to undertake the task can buy parts from vancebaldwin.com.
yellow standby lite is on but can't turn on tv [ L32hdtv ]. should i change the power board, or the main logic board, or both?
billprintz @yahoo.com
TV has power (logo glows orange), but won't turn on via remote or side power button. If I unplug, wait 30-seconds to a minute, then plug back in, TV will usually power on.
heeelp i bought my 42 inch vizio hd tv from cosco 2 years ago and now it wount turn on . the yellow light stays on if you try to turn on the tv the light turns green for a spilt second then turn back to yellow and tv stays off. i know i got a deal for what i payed at it was the cheaper of the brands but it was still 1200.00 bucks . is vizio stepping up to the plate and making this right my dad paid 400.00 bucks for his zenith he bought 15 years ago it still works great today
I'm having same problem with Vizio 47" TV I bought on May 17th. Wouldn't turn on after 2 weeks! I called Costco Concierge - which is a joke by the way - and have been after Vizio and ITI to send out repairman Since June 5. Today, talked with a supervisor who is trying to find out status of my repair request. After reading these postings, I'm thinking I should just take it back to Costco and get a different brand......
I have the same problem. 47'' TV will not turn on, buttons on the side glow orange but do not respond.
30 days old, shut off while watching will not turn back on. I am sad because it was expensive and I gave my old tube tv away. I now have Direct TV HDTV service and a 2 year contract with nothing to watch it on.
did anyone have a solution to this??? Â it just happened to me tonight with my vizio.... thanks
"the TV made a loud pop like something blew up. Like a bulb. Now I have nothing on the screen no sound, but the Vizio light is on illuminated in white and the buttons are lite up orange, but won't work"
I have the exact same problem as everyone else. Had a Vizio for six months. Watching and POP no way to get the TV to power on. Call Vizio for support. Got the same line ITI will contact for appointment. NOTHING.
Does anyone have ITI phone number?
Vizio made a popping noise and now nothing.. .orange Vizio logo glows but nothing. If I unplug it and plug it back in I can get it to turn on, but there is no picture and no sound and the only way to turn it off is to unplug it. The buttons won't respond to touch and the remote won't turn it on or off. What a joke. The people at Vizio were real jerks.. I had the TV for 14 months and now it's worthless. Won't buy one again.. if anyone knows how to fix this piece of garbage please post it.. Best Buy 'Geek Squad' wanted to charge $150 just to look at it.. the ITI people never answered the phone and never returned my call.
Same thing happened to me today. It won't turn off unless I unplug it. when I turn it on the screen is completely black.... no lamp and no sound. I bought mine at the end of September 2007. I do have an extended warranty so I will have them come repair it,.... so I will try to remember to come back here and describe what they have to replace/repair.
i did find this: http://www.fixya.com/support/t1652580-vi...
all vizios come with a one year service warranty right? god i hope so.
I am encountering a similar problem, but in my case, a friend popped in and fiddled with the remote and got things messed up.
i have a 47 inch Vizio and the light comes on but when you turn it on 3 seconds later it turns right off please help me
