My Mitsubishi WS-65909 has no sound after we had hooked up speakers. I go to the setup to click on "TV Speakers On" but it doesn't give me that option (it's grayed out). Help!

I'm actually trying to just use the internal speakers with no other speakers hooked up and it's not giving me the option to turn them on.

Sorry, my first question wasn't clear.

I received a Mistubishi Diamond tv that had previously been hooked up to external speakers. I just want to use the internal speakers, but when I go to setup, it doesn't give me the option to turn on the TV speakers (it's grayed out). How can I turn on the internal speakers?

Hi there, thanks so much for your help.
It's a HDTV 1080 Integrated Series. The manual I have is for the WS-55859, WS55909, WS-65869, WS-65909 and WS-73909. The screen is about 50 inches. Sorry, I can't find anywhere that it tell me the exact model. Thanks!

There is a way with the original Mitsubishi remote to do a hard reset of the set; it will return the set to the condition it was when new in the box.

It is done with the original remote and a four digit number entered with the remote.

The set will turn off and come back on in the Air band on Channel three. Any labels on inputs will be gone.

If you want to try this confirm the actual model number and I will tell you the 4 numbers.

The previous owner may have locked the speakers out if the option is grayed out.

Here are the instructions for the hard reset that should restore them, they are for the model WS-65909 and if the model is different let me know before you attempt it.

With the original Mitsubishi remote and the set already on: menu, 0,1,7,0 enter (some versions do not require the menu first)

the "OPTION" MENU WILL COME UP ON SCREEN, select reset or something like that and highlight it with the up/down cursors on the remote and hit the enter button.

If you don't have speaker jacks for external speakers on the jack panel then you can't use the speakers that way. You will have to use the audio out (rca jacks) and run them into a surround sound system or a regular stereo system. The grayed out means you only have internal speakers of which you can turn off once you connect the audio out to a amplifier, then your ready to go.

  • Anonymous Dec 18, 2010

I need you to unplug the tv for 5 min and then plug it back in. go to the audio menu and double check all your settings. When the sound is grayed out usually means the data-serial lines are interrupted in which the cpu does not recognize that option. If it persists then you will have to a service co.

Mitsubishi rear projection tv, model WS-48311 - Lost audio after moving tv and re-hooking up cables. How do I get it back?

It sounds like this TV is being used only for the PS3. We'll need to troubleshoot this through a process of elimination.

If you're using Component Input 1 and audio, try using Component Input 2 and audio instead. If this set of inputs provides working audio and video - you can stop. Or, try going back to Input 1 once more. If Input 1 now works - you may have simply made a better connection. If it doesn't - then there's probably an issue with input 1 on the TV.

If moving to Input 2 above still didn't solve the problem, you should try using a different set of audio cables between the HDFury and the TV. If it now works, the original audio cables are faulty.

You can check the HDfury setup on another HDTV with component inputs with it connected to an HDMI cable. if the HDFury wors, you know the device and all the cables work. If you do this test and it works with your PS3, then you know that the PS3 is providing good video and audio signals via HDMI. If the problem follows the PS3 - then it's the PS3 at fault. If everything works perfectly on the second TV, then there is some issue with the audio amplifier / inputs / speakers of the Mitsu TV. You could get a cheapo stereo amp and speakers - or a set of computer speakers for audio - it all depends on how much you want to spend for sound.

Good lcuk!

Speakers are off and can not be turn on from the menu page

The easy way is to call mitsubishi with the model number or I can look it up for you------------this model has a Hard reset done with the original remote to reset the set to the condition it was when new in the box--this will return the option to turn the speakers back on (THEY WILL BE GRAYED OUT IN THE MENU IF THIS IS THE CASE).

confirm actual model number!

How do we turn off the internal speakers to use a surround sound system on our Mitsubishi HDtv 55" 1080 SERIES TV?

IF it is a Mitsubishi WS-55613 rear projection set---

You with the Mitsubishi remote go into the customer menu and select Audio(it should be a separate item) and look for a setting for speakers--right cursor to it and up or down cursor to change it.

Some models may have this feature in the SETUP part of the menu.

I suspects you have bad convergance IC's

It takes a good tech around 3 or 3 hours to take the old ones out and solder in the new ones. Also, it is likely one or two resistors are burnt and will need replacing as well.
Don not run the tv till you have it fix you will cause more damage!
