Easy fix. I simply took a small square piece of very thin cardboard / paper from the inside of a cigarette pack and used the ANGLE of the square so that the corner of it went in between the tube stem and the circular base. They work on friction (guessing) but nevertheless it works perfectly at any height due to friction from thin card paper. You can then tape it in place or put on the back side under the mirror neck assembly or color the paper or whatever other aesthetics aligns to your desideratum ps.
