Hi,
I cannot play some .mkv
MKV is a video container format which may contain various video or audio codec. If the video or audio codec is not supported by Samsung, it will fail to play mkv files on Samsung.
To play unsupported MKV files, it is better to convert MKV to MP4 H.264 with the help of Avdshare Video Converter.
"Service not supported" with Internet@TV.
Problem persists :
------------ ----------- ---I have configured the network in the samsung 40" LCD TV, using Ethernet cable to a router. The ping test, DNS server, GW Tests are passing ok. I am able to ping to the IP address of the samsung TV from my Laptop. My internet browsing via the service provider Airtel is otherwise working excellent with Laptop (Vista) or MacBook.
Router : 192.168.0.1
Laptop : 192.168.0.16
Samsung : 192.168.0.5
GW : 192.168.0.1
But Internet #TV gives "Service Not supported"
Any known issues?
Thanks,
Ilango

I had the same problem and I replaced the t-con board. My t.v. is fixed!!!! I just couldn't see spending another 700.00 dollars for a repair shop to fix it. The t-con board is located at the top of the t.v. once you remove the back cover. Be very careful removing the two plugs at the top of the board which was easy once I figured out how the clips worked. there is a black lever like connection which flips up, then grip with your fingers the tab and slide the tape like wires straight out. The bottom plug is very simple. Also to expose the t-con board you will have to remove a heat shield cover. Once removed there is foil looking tape that needs to be peeled back to expose the board. The board is very sensitive to static electricity so if you have a grounding strap that you can strap to your wrist and ground to the frame while performing your repair. Its best to lay the t.v. face down on the kitchen table with a blanket to protect the screen. Good luck!

Have same tv and same problem samsung lnt4665f
We have the same problem with our 46" Samsung LCD Tv LNT-4665F. It's only 2 years old and unfortunately it's out of warranty too. Our tv would not power on and just does this clicking sound. We called to get it serviced and we will need to pay $95 to have somebody comeout and diagnose the problem or we bring it to the shop and pay $50 to diagnose the problem. we've never had any problem with our SONY TVs. we regret buying Samsung!

Samsung LCD tv - Turns on and off by itself.
Not sure if this is the same problem, but I just moved and set up my Samsung 40" LCD and it has been going off and on by itself with the worst yesterday every 2-3 minutes. After speaking with a friend of mine who is not in the Tv business but just has good common sense, I determined it was likely a bad power strip. The bottom line is I replaced the crappy power strip (which was fully loaded with all 6 outlets in use) with the higher quality one I had in the other room. The problem is gone. I suspect the power strip was failing or real bad quality........try plugging the tv directly into the wall outlet first. hope this helped.

Sound no picture, which component is tcon board? where all audio/video/cable/hdmi plug in to?
I have LNS4692D. Returned from vacation, turned tv on - no picture. Tried turning tv off for 4 hours- nothing.
Symptoms are: tv is on - no picture , just sound; menu doesn't show, volume bar doesn't show;E.Saving is working - the backlight is changing from lighter to darker.
Found this website and ordered T-con, otherwise known as the LCD panel driver board, p/n# Bn8101286a ( thanks premtech) from partstore.com for $124. Part number BN81-01286A A/S T-CON Board.
Installation:
1.Remove plastic cover. There is an arrow for each screw that needs to be removed. Make sure to unscrew pins next to VGA port. I've spent some time trying to figure out what else is holding the plastic panel until I found this pins.
2. Remove big metal shield in the middle of tv that is covering main components. This shield is being held by small black screws all around it.
At this point you will see cover of T-CON. Here is the picture
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=118863&d=1220531321 (thanks ldac9). Do not attempt to remove that cover yet. Proceed with a next step
3.Remove metal panel that holds main components. Locate big chrome screws that have arrows pointing to them and unscrew them. Remove 2 more screws on the bottom of the panel that holds it together with a box for cables. At this point the main panel will be lose
4. Carefully start lifting the panel. You will see that there are connectors going from components on the panel to components on the lower panel and T-CON. Carefully unplug these components and raise the main panel.
5. Remove 4 screws that holds T-CON cover. Pull the cover so that T-CON is completely exposed. The cover is connected by thin alluminum , don't hesitate to pull it , but don't rip it out.
6. Once T-CON is exposed you will see 2 red ribbons. I've spent some time to figure out how unplug those from old T-CON board. Here is the suggestion. Don't try to pull it out. All you need to do is to lift small plastic lever that is part of a connector. Then ribbon can be slided out. If not sure what to do, see how this is done on the new T-CON. It has a principle of buckle on airplain safety belts.
7. Remove old T-CON and install new you.
8. Follow reverse order.
I've never fixed TV before , but this was totally successful project.

Will not turn on or off
I had the same problem. I work for a mother board manufacturer w/offices in New Jersey and brought mine into our engineering lab after
Samsung told me tough luck. Anyway, one of my engineers fixed it in 10 minutes. Essentially, he replaced the 1000uF capacitors on the power supply board with 2 cent capacitors instead of the 1 cent capacitors that had blown out on the CHEAP SAMSUNG POWER SUPPLY BOARD. You can tell the caps are blown via visual inspection. The top of the cap should be perfectly flat and a blown cap will be convex on top. Unfortunately, there are also 2500 uF caps by the same cheap manufacturer on the board as well and we don\'t stock that value for our products. According to my engineer, those will most likely blow next since he replaced the others with better caps, but I\'m getting samples of those and will replace them shortly. After that this piece of junk should last me at least another 2 yrs! It\'s been working for about a week now w/no problems. Hope this helps.

Continuous crackling from TV speakers
I'm sure you have figured this one out. TV itself is causing the problems.
The circuit board that produces the audio signal seems to be the problem.
Before you call the repairman, go to the web site Shopjimmy.com just to get an idea of what the parts will cost. That way he doesn't rip you off.
I hope I answered your question correctly. Please rate me. :)
